IT Liability Insurance

IT Liability Insurance protection for organisations against legal liability arising from the failure of their products, services and/or advice in the conduct of the business. This insurance combines traditional product liability insurance coverage to respond to the unique exposures of the Information Technology industry. In addition to product coverage the policy incorporates both Professional Indemnity and Public Liability into one insurance solution for the Information Technology industry.

Because of the nature of Information Technology services there can be uncertainty as to whether a claim should fall under a public/product liability policy, which covers third party claims for property damage and personal injury, or a professional indemnity policy, which covers third party claims for financial loss. If the policies are placed separate and, particularly, if they are placed with different insurers, a claim could potentially fall between the two policies. It is therefore desirable for these exposures to be covered under one policy, which is what IT Liability Insurance has been designed to address.
